§ 70-34. Cave diving; notice to sheriff's department.

  • No person shall engage in cave diving or open water diving in the Blue Springs Recreational Area, as defined in section 70-31, unless such person shall, prior to entry into the water, give notice of his or her proposed activity, with times of proposed entry and exit, and locations, to the Jackson County Parks Department and the county sheriff's office or to other entities that are approved from time to time by the board of county commissioners. When cave diving elsewhere within the county, such person shall simultaneously provide to the sheriff's office any requested information regarding identify, next of kin, and names, addresses and phone numbers of persons to contact in case of emergency. Further, no person shall engage in cave diving in the Blue Springs Recreational Area, unless such person be a currently certified cave diver, recognize by any national or international cave diving association. Such person, at the time of prior notice, shall provide a copy of such certification to the sheriff's office.
